Why do I want to do the A.T?

Because it's an experience! And a pretty amazing one at that!

At the moment my browsers tabs are full of AT related searches. I am going over everything I will need, how much it will cost, how I will get there to begin with, how I will save the money, how will I train for it and the biggie, when when will I do it?
As soon as I saw the trail map I just knew I had to do it.

I think I am going to need somewhere between £2000-£2500 to 'thru' it the 2200 miles. Pre-warning this post is probably going to bit a bit 'mishmashed' as I'm trying to sum up everything I've looked at today. I'll post in more detail about.

First off the list of stuff I need to investigate:
- 'Bounce boxes - People send themselves boxes of food, equipment, clothes for town etc. To the next town they'll reach so they do not have to carry items, I guess this saves money on buying food too which is definitely something I need to consider. From looking at other peoples trips apparently this was helpful as other hikers spent a long time trying to get lifts to stores to buy food. However would postage costs out do the saving?

- Detailed map - I need to find a detailed map of the whole route.
- Gear costs - I have watched reviews of 2000 milers on youtube and read blogs about equipment I need to calculate the costs.
- Hammock or tent?
- Beer Can Stove - An excellent idea my friend recently used on one of our camping trips - need to search youtube link to see how to make.
- Finding a group of crazy people to do the hike with.
- A decent, sturdy camera to document the trip!
